Don’t Be Neutral on Net Neutrality!
Admittedly, this week’s word provides the
foundation for a “soapbox” article. As a solopreneur, I cannot stand idly by
while affordable (term used
tongue-in-cheek) access to the Internet—the lifeblood of independent
entrepreneurs and small business—is threatened.
REBARBATIVE (ri bärʹbɘ
tiv) adj. – repellent, unattractive,
forbidding, grim, etc. (literally:
“to face beard-to-beard”) [WW #120]
We need to stand “beard-to-beard” in a
cohesive voice to the rebarbative FCC, and demand the rights that citizens of the
United States just celebrated, for the two-hundred-and-forty-first year:
“We hold
these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life,
Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

“Pursuit of Happiness”: Let’s ponder that
phrase for a moment … As a money-driven society, it’s tough enough for small
business or solo entrepreneur to pursue happiness on a limited budget. But when
we are faced with losing the ABILITY to make money using the same worldwide avenues as big business, THAT
is oppression. A decidedly rebarbative prospect.

you’re not willing to be legitimately recognized, perhaps you can sound off in
another positive way.
Word Challenge: REBARBATIVE.
There are times in life when a “beard-to-beard” rebarbative confrontation
is warranted. This is one of them. Consider how you can make a difference, as
you fit rebarbative into your week of righteous writings.
